Michels & Taylor LLP is one of Europe's leading hotel asset management companies, offering a range of services for hotel owners, developers and banks. Set up by Sir David Michels and Hugh Taylor, it currently looks after the management of over 60 hotels, including two large portfolios of Hilton and Marriott hotels in the UK.

Each member of the team has a proven and successful track record in the global and European hotel industry. We believe there's simply no-one better in the sector to look after you, but we would say that, wouldn't we? That's why we always recommend you ask around to check it's true.

2. We understand management contracts
Hotel management contracts are invariably stacked in the operator's favour. And so they should be. In effect, the brand company is being asked to run your business and they need the freedom to do so. But this needs to be balanced with the owner's interest in the business. And we can help you with this - finding the right brand for your hotel, helping negotiate the contract and ensuring it's both commercially and practically sensible.

3. Real partnerships with your operators
We don't bully operators. We don't scream and yell at them, continually complain about their performance, make demands without justification and so on. We also don't compromise on our messages or our views. Instead, we build a professional working relationship with the hotel management team on your behalf. We win respect by speaking their language and showing them we understand the subject, win our arguments by ensuring we've got them right, and deliver benefits to both parties by mutual co-operation. And we keep going until the job is done.

4. Specialists, not asset managers
Ironically for an asset management company, we don't actually have any asset managers on the payroll. That's because the relationship with the operator doesn't work unless we know at least as much, if not more about the subject than the operators themselves. And today's hotel companies are filled with specialists - Revenue, Food & Beverage, Finance, Technical Services. All highly professional individuals, all experts in their field.
